Drains and Sewers

South West Plumbing can take care of any plugged drain issue, from the kitchen sink drain to the bath tub drain. One of the most problematic drains, though, is your main sewer. All of the drains in your home eventually lead to the main sewer line. If the main line becomes blocked or plugged, all of your fixtures are affected. You will see the issue arise most of the time in a tub or shower. If you have a basement you may see it come up in a tub or shower as well as a toilet in that area.

To unplug a drain we may have access under the sink or may have to pull a toilet for access tothe main sewer. Snaking a secondary drain is a relatively easy task for our plumbers. When doing these jobs we place any and all of our equipment red carpets for the protection of you floors and cabinets. The best option for access to any drain is an accessible cleanout. For a sink it would be in the wall under the fixture.  For a main sewer it should be out side or in the basement. The cleanout needs to be 3 to 4 inches indiameter.

When you have a main sewer plug you need to imagine a stoppage that is 4 inches in diameter and is holding a large amount of water and sewage behind it.  That is what we must clear for you.  We will often perform a sewer line camera inspection when we get it clear to see if there is a bigger problem lurking.

With our hydro jetting we can clean most residential lines with ease. The high pressure of the water jets can remove the debris and scour the inside of your pipes to restore them to within 80% of what a new install would be.

If you happen to be on a septic tank we can unclog the line between the house and the tank. We would want to start by digging up the tank to get access to the incoming baffle for access. We would also like to see the water level in the tank to ensure that it is not full and needing to be pumped. A septic tank should be pumped approximately every 4 to 5 years to ensure proper operation and not to fill the drain field with solids.  If your home has a sewage ejection pump, we can handle that as well. From pulling the pump for service to a full replacement of your sewage pump or grinder pump.

Camera Inspections

Our sewer line cameras can be used for inspection of your main line. These cameras ultimately help us to discern between a mere blockage and a major problem with the structural integrity of the line, such as a broken or collapsed portion of the line.  This can save a lot of time and money.  Snaking and jetting a line will not fix this sort of a problem, and you could spend a lot of money spinning your wheels, having the drain cleaned if you don’t know that it must be repaired (Click Here to Read about our Sewer Line Repair). Knowing what is going on in your sewer line can provide you peace of mind. We can locate any potential problem areas and make recommendations on what the camera shows. We can also make a DVD of the inspection for you to keep.

Sewer Line Repair and Replacement

If we cannot clear the drain due to a broken or collapsed line we can locate the spot and make the needed sewer repairs. There may be tree roots growing into the line, a dislocated joint, the pipe may be crushed, or in some cased back-graded.  If a sewer line repair is needed, we offer the traditional trench digging and repair, but also trenchless pipe bursting. With the trenchless technology there will be a lot less damage to your landscaping and it can be an overall quicker/safer option. (Click Here to read more about our trenchless sewer replacement.)
